Animals are great entryways into the worlds of both science and art. Through their biology and behavior, we learn a great deal about the natural world and can better understand our own place in it.
This interdisciplinary course keeps students fully engaged with a wide range of animals that they will encounter during field trips to Seattle’s Woodland Park Zoo and the Seattle Aquarium. Instructors will explain the basics of animal anatomy and, once back on campus, will show students how to bring creatures to life through artwork.
By the end of the workshop, each Adventurer will be able to come up with brand new animals from their imagination, draw them, and explain their behavior.

- This workshop’s curriculum has been reviewed by a panel of college-level faculty from DigiPen Institute of Technology to ensure its relevance and appropriateness for students aged 9–13.
- As with every Open World workshop, a special visit by an industry guest has been arranged to help students see the connection between their workshop and real-world careers.
