Much of the land purchased was overgrown with wild blackberry bushes and covered with native oak, hickory, and butternut trees.<\/p>\n<p>The Kenilworth Company built municipal features that protected the existing trees, making the village especially attractive to potential homeowners. Although Kenilworth lost many elms to Dutch Elm disease in the 1960s, other mature specimen trees remain outstanding landscape features.<\/p>\n<p>Each year the Village of Kenilworth organizes an \u201cAnnual Parkway Tree Donation Program\u201d.\u00a0 This program offers residents a variety of arborist-recommended trees for planting in the Village\u2019s parkway. The program is a way to help keep Kenilworth\u2019s neighborhoods safe and beautiful.
